One step into the doorway and I know this is my kinda place. Fat loaves of focaccia, dark milk bread, and boules of sourdough greet me. At the counter, I find eclectic pastries, buttery scones, and a delectably tender matcha cookie made with zucchini. And a few paces to the left, a bicycle shop.

Newly opened in the Paseo District, 30th Street Market is an artisan bakery meets coffee house, meets sandwich shop, meets wine shop, meets local market, meets bicycle shop. Basically, it's a VIBE.

The market is the dream concept of food entrepreneurs Andrea Koester and Josh Gautreaux of Venerable Concepts. They also own the popular donut shop Holy Rollers as well as the Red Rooster, a dive-bar-turned neighborhood pub.

“We’ve been planning this for over two-and-a-half years,” Andrea says. “We wanted it to be a community place. There’s something for everyone.”

The Market offers house-made and curated specialty foods, eclectic wines, sparkling waters, and local beer. They plan to introduce grab-and-go charcuterie, cheese plates, and ice cream soon. The in-house bike shop is part of Celestial Cycles, a locally owned bike shop with a name inspired by a notable tea brand, serving as a satellite hub for repairs and supplies.

“The menu is years of eating sandwiches and toast, and deciding what works,” says Andrea. Although the offerings lean heavily on the house-made bread, all sandwiches can also be made gluten-free.

Previously an artist’s studio, this unapologetically hip space channels the nostalgia of a vintage country store. Outside, you can eat breakfast or sip wine on the pet-friendly patio for a relaxed summer hang. Swing by Saturday mornings for a bike ride and a breakfast sandwich, or grab a few provisions, or join the in-house wine club, or sip coffee while you write emails. It’s community meets great eats. Like I said, my kinda place.
