Pumpkin Ribbon Bread

Ingredients

Filling
  • 6 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange peel
Bread
  • 1 cup cooked pumpkin
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon cloves
  • 1⅔ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Preparation

Filling: Beat cream cheese, sugar, and flour in small bowl. Add egg and mix to blend. Add orange peel and set aside.

Bread: Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine pumpkin, oil, and eggs in large bowl. Add sugar, salt, cinnamon, cloves, flour, and baking soda. Mix to blend. Pour small amount of batter into greased and floured loaf pan. Carefully spread cream cheese filling over batter. Add remaining batter to cover filling. Bake for 1 and ½ hours or until bread tests done with a wooden pick. Cool for 10 minutes, remove from pan, and store in refrigerator.
