At Waffle Champion, you can certainly find the traditional buttermilk waffle, complete with whipped cream, maple syrup, and powdered sugar. But this former food truck turned midtown restaurant also offers surprising and eclectic combinations, such as the Ancho BBQ Pulled Pork waffle, featuring pulled pork accompanied by blue cheese slaw, fried pickles, and maple mustard. Indeed, Waffle Champion is changing what we consider a waffle to be these days, from a breakfast indulgence into a gourmet delight suitable for any moment in your day.

Owner and founder Todd Woodruff got his start cooking at Boulevard Steakhouse and worked his way up to sous chef at Cheever’s Café under chefs Ryan Lawson and Mark Ridenour. He also sharpened his skills as sous chef at Red Prime Steakhouse before opening Waffle Champion as a food truck in 2011. The restaurant moved into its current location in 2013.

Waffle Champion prides itself on using the highest quality and most responsible ingredients, from local ingredients such as cheeses, eggs, honey, alcohol, and bison to fair trade ingredients such as Maine Root sodas. With its recently opened “Walk-Up Window”, open from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m., you can enjoy Waffle Champion’s unique offerings late into the night!
