Resolution Free Recipes

Let me be the first to congratulate you on surviving the holidays. New year, new you. I’m certain everyone is taking comfort in knowing they have a fresh start to make this year everything they hope and dream it will be. 2018 was a learning experience and 2019 is going to be better than ever, right? I don’t know about you guys, but I also take comfort in knowing that I’m probably not the only one who is going to drop the ball on my New Year’s Resolutions. I’m going to eat leafy greens for a week and then dive right back into my favorite comfort foods and pretend like nothing ever happened. As Oklahomies, we LOVE our comfort food. Chicken fried steak, chicken fried Oreos, you name it. What about comfort cocktails, though? When I asked my friends to tell me about their favorite comfort cocktails, they looked at me like I was (am? I am.) a crazy person, but then ultimately provided a response, usually some nostalgic childhood memory of Grandma’s gin-scented kisses or of sneaking sips of Mom’s frozen margaritas when the waiter wasn’t looking. We don’t have to agree on what a comfort cocktail is, as long as it makes you feel good. Generally speaking, alcohol itself is a comfort food. In my humble opinion, the comfort’s source isn’t just that warm fuzzy tipsy feeling (although I’m embracing that too) but also the experiences occurring while we imbibe. Here are some recipe options, if you’re in need of a few reasons to have your friends (you know the ones...those who have also failed at their resolutions) over to enjoy each other’s comfortable company.
